ENDING WELL
Back to Main Page
Most groups don’t last 10 or 20 years. Others have a specific end time. Whether you are in a short-term group or a long-term group, the end will come. Sometimes schedules become unmanageable and people seem to be disconnecting. These are signs that the group is reaching the end of its time together.
When this happens, often the leader feels like they have failed. The leader has not failed. The group has simply reached the end of a good thing. This is where your group is landing and celebrating the journey.
What you can do:
When this happens, often the leader feels like they have failed. The leader has not failed. The group has simply reached the end of a good thing. This is where your group is landing and celebrating the journey.
What you can do:
- Tell yourself it's okay. It's Jesus' group. You never know what He has next for you and the other group members.
- Ask the group what they think about coming to an end. Don’t let it drag out. Have an honest conversation about it.
- Celebrate. If you decide to end, have a celebration party. Celebrate the journey you went on together, memories you made, prayers answered and the growth that has occurred. You have much to celebrate.
